SPARC - Secure Propulsion using Advanced Redundant Control
2004-2007 (European commission funded project - Project leader : DaimlerChrysler)The goal of SPARC is to substantially improve traffic safety and efficiency for heavy goods vehicles using intelligent x-by-wire technologies in the powertrain. To prove this standardised concept an automotive Software/Hardware platform will be developed that is scalable and usable from heavy goods vehicles down to small passenger cars and be integrated therein. SPARC will propose a complete automotive concept of an open system architecture, where software functionalities of different partners can be integrated easily. Four validator vehicles of this architecture will be build and evaluated. One of the main objectives of SPARC will be the development of an accident-avoiding vehicle using a Safety Decision Control System SDCS, which is designed to check driver failure probability (driver incapacity, etc.). and to react accordingly.
In this project, Allemann Technologies developed the software module running on a MPC5554 responsible for getting the input of the driver, transforming it into a motion vector and coordinating all the vehicles' aggregates via an acceleration controller. Allemann Technologies is also responsible for the taking into operation of all subsystems (mechatronic components, Flexray network, ...). A steer-by-wire system has also been specially developped for the heavy goods vehicles as well as Flexray to CAN gateways.
